The Registration Authority

The industrial-property Registration Authority is the State Organization for Registration of Deeds and Properties. The registration of all matters relating to industrial property — including inventions, utility models, industrial designs, trademarks, collective marks, certification marks, trade names, and geographical indications — is carried out by this Organization.

Note 1 — Defense-related patents shall be issued in cooperation with the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, and the Registration Authority. The process of registering a defense-related patent and the manner of cooperation of the said authorities shall be in accordance with a regulation prepared, within three months of the entry into force of this Act, in cooperation with the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, and the Registration Authority, and approved by the Council of Ministers.

Note 2 — The representation of the Islamic Republic of Iran in matters relating to industrial property before the World Intellectual Property Organization and the unions relating to the conventions connected with it rests with the Registration Authority.
