Article 16
Where the invention relates to the field of biotechnology and genetic resources, the applicant (whether the owner or the inventor) is obliged, in addition to the items set forth in Articles (14) and (15) of this Act, to submit the following information and documents to the Registration Authority annexed to his application:
- 1.Declaration of the geographical origin of the natural biological resource used in making the invention and the manner of access to the resources
- 2.Declaration of the place of storage and manner of access in respect of biological resources lacking a geographical origin
- 3.Certificate of deposit of the genetic or biological sample with centers for the storage of genetic and biological reserves, where its description is not possible, as determined by the Registration Authority
Note — The centers competent for deposit and for issuing the deposit certificate and identifier for biological and genetic materials shall be announced by the Registration Authority.

What extra documents are needed for a biotechnology or genetic-resource patent?
In addition to the ordinary application, the applicant must declare the geographic origin of the biological resource and how it was accessed, state the place of deposit for resources lacking an origin, and provide a deposit certificate where a written description is not possible.
